ODISEI – Human Organoid-based Disease Modeling & Drug Efficacy Evaluation: Skin, Gut, and Brain models.

Overview

Drug development is moving away from animal testing. In 2025, the U.S. FDA published a roadmap to phase out animal testing requirements, starting with monoclonal antibodies. The EMA is also expanding its support for new approach methodologies (NAMs). As a result, there is growing demand for validated in vitro models that reflect human biology. Animal models often fail to predict how a drug will behave in humans. This is a major reason why drug development is so expensive and why so many drug candidates fail in clinical trials.
Lambda Biologics developed ODISEI (Organoid-based Discovery platform for Innovative Screening, Evaluation, and Identification) to close this gap. ODISEI uses human organoid models that reproduce key structures and functions of human tissue. These models support disease modeling and drug efficacy and safety studies.
In this video, Dr. Wulansari Noviana, Strategic Technology Team Leader at OrganoidSciences, presents our organoid technology and how ODISEI models are applied in practice.
 Topics covered:
  • Skin & hair follicle organoids: testing how well functional cosmetics work and checking for skin toxicity
  • Intestinal organoids: gut evaluation, leaky gut syndrome and IBD models, epithelial barrier models, and food & nutrition applications
  • Brain organoids: CNS evaluation, including a Parkinson’s disease case study

About the presenter

Noviana Wulansari, PhD, Team Leader of Strategic Technology Development Team, Organoidsciences Inc.

Noviana is a neuroscientist with over 8 years of experience in stem cell biology, iPSC-based disease modeling, and organoid technology. She currently leads the Strategic Technology Team at OrganoidSciences, focusing on the development of human-relevant disease models for neurodegenerative and neurodevelopmental disorders.

She has significant experience in developing patient-derived iPSC-based disease models, brain organoids, and neural cell models to investigate disease mechanisms and support drug discovery and therapeutic development.

Noviana Wulansari received her PhD in Biomedical Science (Neuroscience) from Hanyang University and completed postdoctoral fellowship in neuroscience with Professor Sang-Hun Lee at Hanyang University.
